The Freedom School’s architecture — Sunrise, Foundations, Seminars, Quests and Advisory — was built to develop capable, grounded young people. Here’s how that design lines up with two global frameworks: the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Inner Development Goals.

Every course exists to build genuine skill, not just seat-time or credit accumulation. Advisory, Seminars and Quests develop deep learning, critical thinking and lifelong-learning habits — in a fully online model built for worldschoolers and communities traditional schooling often leaves out. Odyssey adds a rigorous, ACTFL-aligned world-language and culture pathway on top of that foundation.
Sunrise + Advisory
Sunrise opens every school day with mindfulness and nervous-system regulation — wellbeing built into the daily rhythm, not layered on top of it. Advisory gives every student a steady, trusted relationship where they’re known and supported.
Foundation + Quests + Advisory
The Foundation guarantees financial literacy and real-world numeracy; Quests build entrepreneurial, creative and practical skills through real projects; and Advisory’s college & career guidance prepares every student for the future of work.
Our global model + Odyssey
A fully online school enrolling students worldwide, reducing geographic and institutional inequality. The same guaranteed foundation and graduate pathway is open to any student — including homeschooling and worldschooling families — wherever they’re based. Odyssey means that access extends to world-language learning too — not just to students near a well-resourced program.
Power & Justice seminar
Our Power & Justice seminar theme helps students understand their rights and how power structures work in their country. Seminars build the habit of thinking critically about institutions, and Advisory helps turn that understanding into integrity and responsible citizenship.

Empathy, connectedness and a sense of belonging with others and the natural world — woven through daily culture, seminar discussion and the Advisory relationship, including cross-cultural perspective-taking in Odyssey.

Communicating, co-creating and working with trust and shared purpose — through team projects, peer feedback, and sharing real work with a real audience, including interpersonal communication practice in Odyssey.

Advisory is the heart of it. A trusted mentor journeys with each student across all four years — supporting every dimension, every day.
